Despite a little rain, the troop began the 2009-2010 Scout Year off with a terrific campout.  We set up camp along the banks of the Rappahannock.

We had fourteen scouts successfully complete their canoeing merit badge.  The boys learned the parts of the canoe and then quickly went onto the water to learn and practice critical strokes for maneuvering their canoes.  They learned how to work as a two man team and later demonstrated the skills needed to individually maneuver their canoes.  They finished up the day demonstrating their ability to do self and  assisted rescue in flat water.   All the scouts did a great job and developed excellent canoeing skills by the end of the day.
