Troop 688 Concludes Busy Scout Year |

Boy Scouts of America Troop 688 finished the 2009-10 Scout year with plenty of Scouting activities in both May and June.
In our first-ever joint Eagle Court of Honor on May 2, 2010, a scout from Troop 688 and a scout from Troop 994 were awarded their Eagle Scout medals for having achieved Scouting’s highest rank.

On June 18, 2010, Troop 688 officially ended its 2009-2010 Scout year with its annual Summer Court of Honor and BBQ. For the second year in a row this family event was held at Christ Church’s property located at 7500 Ox Road.

Whitewater Rafting Trip 2010 |

For the fourth year in a row, the Scouts of Troop 688 decided their May camping trip would be whitewater rafting on the Cheat River in West Virginia. Over the weekend of May 14-16, 2010, 35 Scouts and 8 adults camped at Camp Dawson, an Army National Guard training facility located near Kingwood, West Virginia, in order to once again take on the challenge of the Cheat River rapids.

The Old Dominion District recognized Troop 688 as the “2009-10 Most Valuable Unit” in the District at its annual awards dinner Friday, May 21, 2010. Each year the District’s leadership selects one troop, pack, or crew that best exemplifies the principles of the Boy Scouts of America.

Shed and Trailer Dedication |

On Friday, May 14, 2010, Troop 688 held a short ceremony to publicly thank Assistant Scoutmaster Quigley for his efforts in procuring a new trailer for the troop and to thank the team responsible for replacing the equipment shed.
